Who We Can Help

We specialize in working with scoliosis, kyphosis, posture, and dance medicine.  We also work as manual therapists with those living with conditions found in our What We treat Section.   We work with patients of all ages. We treat patients across the lifespan.

Below you will find a more specific description of our scoliosis and kyphosis patient population.

  • Scoliosis is a spinal disorder consisting of a lateral or side to side curvature, rotation of the vertebrae and a shift in the spine forward and backward. There are different types of curvatures and the causes of scoliosis are variable.  Scoliosis can be classified as congenital, neuromuscular, syndrome-related, and idiopathic (cause unknown).
  • Kyphosis is a spinal deformity contributing to a forward rounding of the back. It can occur at any age.
  • Scheuermann’s Kyphosis, according to the American Academy of Orthopedics, is caused by a structural abnormality in the spine. In a patient with Scheuermann’s kyphosis, an x-ray from the side will show that, rather than the normal rectangular shape, several consecutive vertebrae have a more triangular shape. This irregular shape causes the vertebrae to wedge together toward the front of the spine, decreasing the normal disk space and creating an exaggerated forward curvature in the upper back.
